Christmas ribbon salad

Layered red, white and green gelatin makes this an easy showpiece for the holiday table — make it the day before so each layer has time to set.

You'll need

• 1 package (3 oz.) lime gelatin
• 1 package (3 oz.) raspberry or strawberry gelatin
• 1 package (3 oz.) lemon gelatin
• 1 cup sour cream, divided
• 2½ cups boiling water, divided

How to make it

1. Dissolve the lime gelatin in ¾ cup boiling water. Stir in ⅓ cup cold water, pour into a 9x13 dish, and chill until just set (about 45 minutes).
2. Dissolve the lemon gelatin the same way; whisk in ⅓ cup sour cream once slightly cooled. Spoon gently over the lime layer and chill until set.
3. Dissolve the raspberry gelatin, cool slightly, and pour over the lemon layer. Chill at least 4 hours, or overnight.
4. Cut into squares and serve straight from the dish.
