Every day is Christmas

The tree comes down, the lights get packed,
the tinsel swept, the boxes stacked —
but one small ornament stays near,
a quiet keeper of the year.

For kindness kept and gifts freely given
don't need a date to make them Christmas.
Wherever warmth and welcome are,
the season's really never far.

A nice one to read aloud once the tree finally comes down — a small reminder that the spirit of the season doesn't have to pack away with the ornaments.
