Tin can luminaries

An old craft with a simple trick: freezing water inside the can lets you punch a pattern without denting it.

You'll need

Fill each can with water and freeze solid, at least a few hours.
Sketch or freehand a simple pattern (stars, dots, a snowflake) onto the frozen can.
Punch along the pattern with a hammer and nail, working carefully.
Let the ice melt, dry the can, and place a battery tea light inside.
